Imagine you have gone out for a date with someone and you really like the person and have a positive vibe building up, but the moment you get close, a bad whiff from your partner's mouth hits your nose. Image man holding nosePretty embarrassing, off-putting and gross, right? That is what bad breath can do. You will be surprised to know that it is not a very uncommon problem, though. Many people worldwide suffer from bad breath, scientifically known as halitosis, and have quite a few reasons behind it.

However, due to it almost being a stigma, very few people talk about it or seek treatment. Bad breath can be due to bad oral hygiene, improper flossing habits, some gum disease, or decay in the mouth or associated with a systemic diseases. If you are looking for some effective ways to deal with bad breath, this article may prove to be quite an enlightenment.

Brush teeth twice a day

This is one of the essential criteria to avoid bad breath, and the reason for it is multifaceted. Brushing Baby brushing teeth in bathprevents the build-up of decay-causing materials on the teeth and prevents the production of acids, the main culprit for the decay and gum disease. Brushing in the morning is essential, but many people generally tend to miss the brushing at night.

It gets rid of all the accumulation throughout the day and does not provide a conducive environment for the bacteria to work on throughout the night. Therefore, you should make sure that you brush daily to prevent any cause for bad breath.

Floss daily

When food gets stuck in between your teeth, and you cannot negotiate it with your toothbrush's bristles, it tends to produce a bad smell. It becomes the best source of nutrition for oral bacteria. The area in between the teeth is the most difficult one to clean. Flossing is a method of taking care of it. It generally consists of a thread-like waxed string that can easily reach the difficult areas of the teeth.

Floss regularly to avoid bad breath as well. If you are unaware of the technique of flossing, book a routine dental checkup with a dentist and seek guidance from him and her about it.

Avoid smoking and tobacco products

There are 1000s of reasons why you should not consume tobacco products and smoke, and bad breath is another important one among them. They hamper oral hygiene and reduce the production of saliva in the mouth, which is again a precursor for decay and gum diseases. Its relation to oral cancer is already well-established as well. Therefore, leaving these habits can only benefit you.

Make use of tongue scraper

The dirt that accumulates on the top surface of your tongue can also produce bad breath. It is called tongue plaque and generally contains a lot of bacteria and fermented food materials responsible for the smell. Cleaning it from time to time by scraping it properly is an absolute must. You should be gentle, though, as vigorous manipulation of the tongue can lead to injuries.

Chew a fruit peel

Fruit peels are generally rough in texture, which contributes to its abrasive nature. If chewed properly, it can lead to removing any deposits or debris that can collect on the tooth. Thus, tooth decay and the role of bacteria can be regulated by doing so. This constant agitation is considered to be a mechanical aspect of the prevention of bad breath.

Avoid onion and garlic, it will make your breath sour.

While some types of food are beneficial for your mouth and body, there are some types which you should Onions choppedlook to avoid or consume in minimum quantities to prevent its smell from causing bad breath. Onion and garlic are two of the main components for the same.

Although they are an integral part of edible spices, their intake should be reduced to as minimal as possible. This is because they have a sour test about them, which gets reflected in a person's breath as such.

Moisten your mouth

Moisturization of the oral cavity is important for many reasons. It prevents the oral cavity from drying, which otherwise can lead to a lot of potential for decay. It also stimulates adequate saliva production that washes out the pathogenic bacteria from time to time.

Since the pathogen's colonization is lessened, the bad smell produced by them is also negatively impacted. You can moisten your mouth by drinking a lot of water or chewing gums that can stimulate saliva production. The reduction in bad breath will be noticeable within a few days.

You can follow the tips mentioned above to avoid bad breath and any embarrassment leading to it effectively.
