MedCard is a corporate style benefits program. We provide benefits that many large corporations have started to provide to their employee’s and that self employed individuals may not typically have access to on their own. Benefits such as 24/7 telemedicine, merchant discounts, lab and prescription discounts and more are provided to the entire family for one very low monthly rate. These plans are available to individuals as well as employer groups and can be offered as an optional after tax benefit or an employer subsidized benefit.
Corporate benefits associations or workplace benefits associations are organizations providing extra benefits usually beyond health insurance that corporations can offer their employees. They can range from discounted movie tickets to free products and travel. At one time corporate benefit programs were only available to large corporations that could afford to have employee’s running the program. MedCard provides these benefits to employees of small and medium sized business, as well as self-employed individuals at a cost of $14.95 or less per employee family.
Some common conditions telemed doctors treat:
Yes! Our doctors will write a prescription and send it to the pharmacy of your choice at their discretion. All states require that the consultation take place via phone or video for a prescription to be written and a couple states require video consultations only. Doctors cannot write prescriptions for DEA controlled medications or lifestyle drugs.
MedCard members and their immediate family members pay nothing for unlimited phone, video or email doctor consultations. Pay per consultation telemed services can range in price from $45 to $95 per consultation. Compared to the average cost of an ER or Urgent Care visit this is still often a considerable savings.
At this point all states have telemed services in one form or another. However, according to the American Telemed Association there are wide differences in state laws. As an example, some states allow all forms of telemedicine while others only allow doctors to video conference with their patients.
The Institute for Healthcare Improvement says an advocate is someone who works on your behalf and helps cut through the red tape. With MedCard, we primary use patient advocates to help negotiate more favorable medical services pricing for our members. Members can submit their doctor or hospital bill to advocate and they will negotiate with the provider for lower pricing.
